Vitis rupestris

Vitis rupestris is a grape species within the genus Vitis that is native to North America. Vitis rupestris varieties are widely used to produce hybrid varieties (with Vitis vinifera) that can be used as a phylloxera-resistant rootstock. Further, some hybrid wine grape varieties such as Regent and Solaris contain a small part of Vitis rupestris DNA that makes them more resistant to downy mildew.
