New world

The ‘New world’ is comprised of all wine producing countries outside of Europe – such as the United States, Canada, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand – that have started producing wine more recently than the European wine countries. These European wine countries, in particular France, Italy, Spain and Germany, have a very long tradition of making wine and form the ‘Old world’. Nevertheless, also many of the New world countries already produce wine for multiple decennia or even centuries.
