Liqueur d’expedition

The ‘liqueur d’expedition’ is a solution of sugar and wine that is added to the bottles after the disgorgement during the ‘Méthode traditionnelle’ for the production of sparkling wines. The amount of added (cane) sugar in the solution determines whether the sparkling wine becomes dry, half dry, half sweet or sweet. See also ‘dosage’.
