Extra Brut is a classification for sparkling wine to indicate that the amount of residual sugar is less than 6 g/L. The total scale used contains the classifications – from very dry to very sweet – Brut Nature, Extra Brut, Brut, Extra-Sec (or Extra-Dry), Sec (or Dry), Demi-Sec and Doux. ‘Extra Brut’ therefore indicates that the sparkling wine is very dry.
