Brut nature

Brut nature is a classification for sparkling wine to indicate that the amount of residual sugar is less than 3 g/L. The total scale used contains the classifications – from very dry to very sweet – Brut Nature, Extra Brut, Brut, Extra-Sec (or Extra-Dry), Sec (or Dry), Demi-Sec and Doux. ‘Brut Nature’ therefore indicates that the sparkling wine is very dry. ‘Brut Nature’ also indicates that no sugar has been added to the liqueur d’expedition. See also ‘dosage’.
