Brut nature is a classification for sparkling wine to indicate that the amount of residual sugar is less than 3 g/L. The total scale used contains the classifications – from very dry to very sweet – Brut Nature, Extra Brut, Brut, Extra-Sec (or Extra-Dry), Sec (or Dry), Demi-Sec and Doux. ‘Brut Nature’ therefore indicates that the sparkling wine is very dry. ‘Brut Nature’ also indicates that no sugar has been added to the liqueur d’expedition.
