A barrique is an oak barrel in which the wine is aged. The barrique has different sizes, in Bordeaux the official volume is 225 liters, whereas in Burgundy it is 228 liters, and 215 liters in the Beaujolais. The origin and age of the wood, and the number of times the barrique has been used determine the influence that the wood has on the wine.
